Shep's CAL Class, Warm/Cool Stage
With one class left our paintings are approaching completion quickly. In the Warm/Cool or Dead Color stage we use only the red, white, and blue we've chosen to do our paintings in. In the painting of Melinda I've used Lasur Red Oxide, Cold Black and Flake White on her face, hair, and background, and Titanium White on the blouse. In the floral I've used Alizarin Crimson, Ultramarine Blue, and Titanium White. I've experimented with Cobalt on the flowers in the background, and have used Cadmium Yellow and Phthalo Blue for the green.
Next I'll let the paintings dry until Tuesday when I will glaze Melinda completely once more with Bohemian Green. I think I will glaze the floral with Verona Green. It is a darker maybe bluer green and I think it will be beautiful with the dark background. I think the Verona will really make the white pop when I finish the painting.
In Wednesday's class I will add yellow to the colors I'm currently using. To the floral I will use cadmium yellow, and with Melinda I will use Yellow Ochre Pale and maybe a touch of Windsor Orange.
I'm looking forward to seeing everyone Wednesday for our last class. I sincerely hope your paintings are meeting your expectations. I will use most of our time together to help you with your paintings after a short demo.
