When I arrived at the Conroe Art League Show to get the results of the judging I was immediately more than happy to discover that my painting of Dante had won a 1st Place Ribbon in Pro/Oil, but I was a little disappointed to find that "Jelly Beans" had no ribbons attached. In the many years I've been showing I knew full well to never go into any show expecting to win anything regardless of how much work you had put into a piece of art. Art is in the eye of the beholder and judges work as hard as they can to get the best results possible. I've won and I've lost, but my biggest joy is always the creating of the art.
We all went to our seats to listen to the critiques by judge, Sylvia Ellis, from the stage, and the awarding of the Best Floral and Best of Show. I hope you can see the surprise and fun I had when Conroe Art League President, Kerry Conkling, announced that "Jelly Beans" had won Best of Show.
"Jelly Beans" will be on display the month of October at the Conroe Art League Gallery at the Madeley Building, 127 Simonton, Conroe, Texas 77305. Come see it!
