I am asking a lot from everyone today, but I have these two paintings that are entering the final stages and I want them to be just right. Before I can finish Dante I have to be certain the background is right.
I've used all the colors I plan to use in the finished portrait in the background: Yellow Ochre, Cad Yellow, Windsor Orange, Ultramarine Blue, Red Oxide, Titanium White, and Cold Black. I used mostly the yellows and blues in the bottom to give it a green cast and orange and white at the top for a sunny look. I need everyone's input, but Bevin's opinion trumps all.
Tell Shep about Dante's background color!

ReplyDeleteMy earlier reply was cut off so it didn't make sense. Sorry. Would adding a little more blue tones do anything? Or would it make it funky? All I see is Dante when I look at this. It is so amazing and beautiful. I already have a spot for this in my house.
ReplyDeleteHave you received any opinions? In my house, everyone LOVES it and the boys can't wait.
Good suggestion! I'll try some blue. Right now the top has a lot of orange and the bottom is blue and yellow, so you get a lot of green. I'll add some blue to the mix. Thanks
