I am asking a lot from everyone today, but I have these two paintings that are entering the final stages and I want them to be just right. Before I can finish Dante I have to be certain the background is right.
I've used all the colors I plan to use in the finished portrait in the background: Yellow Ochre, Cad Yellow, Windsor Orange, Ultramarine Blue, Red Oxide, Titanium White, and Cold Black. I used mostly the yellows and blues in the bottom to give it a green cast and orange and white at the top for a sunny look. I need everyone's input, but Bevin's opinion trumps all.

About Me
- BlogbyShep
- My name is Bob Shepherd, but when I paint I'm known as "Shep". I love to paint people. Happy people. Sad people. People dancing. People in contemplation. Old people. Young people. Lately I've gotten into painting new things and I'm enjoying the challenge. Flowers and still life's have been fun. My blog is here to show you what I'm doing and how I'm doing it. If I'm doing your commission you can follow the progress of your "PortraitbyShep". If you'd like me to do your portrait please notify me through the blog. Please enter your email above and I hope you enjoy the blog. Shep

ReplyDeleteMy earlier reply was cut off so it didn't make sense. Sorry. Would adding a little more blue tones do anything? Or would it make it funky? All I see is Dante when I look at this. It is so amazing and beautiful. I already have a spot for this in my house.
ReplyDeleteHave you received any opinions? In my house, everyone LOVES it and the boys can't wait.
Good suggestion! I'll try some blue. Right now the top has a lot of orange and the bottom is blue and yellow, so you get a lot of green. I'll add some blue to the mix. Thanks
