Shep's "Dante" drawing is Started

Here's Dante.  The drawing is obviously in a very early stage.  This is a posthumous commission so I take a little more time on these.  First I couldn't get the composition right, but by going to this 14" x 18" canvas I'm very happy.  Dante has a beautiful black coat and it's going to take a lot of charcoal to get him dark enough.  I think I may sand this canvas and draw the painting again to get him dark enough.  He's going to shine!  How do you all like Dante?

  2. Having you do this is extra special for Bevin. Ties of love and friendship in the artist, his family and ours. We all loved Dante and this is the best way to remember him. You caught him perfectly.
